Relocation and destruction of bird nests

All species of wild birds naturally spread throughout the European territory of the Member States of the European Union are protected.
In order to destroy or relocate nests of wild birds, it is necessary to obtain:
- A permit from the Environmental Protection Agency, if the bird species is not hunted;
- A conclusion from the Department of Environmental Protection, if the bird species is hunted.
A permit is issued only if one of the following goals is pursued:
- human health and safety;
- air safety;
- protection of crops, livestock, forests, fish resources, aquaculture, and waters from major damage;
- protection of flora and fauna.
The Environmental Protection Agency issues permits to destroy or relocate nests of wild birds if no other alternative solution can be employed.
The Environmental Protection Department issues conclusions on the management of the abundance of game birds by destroying their nests in areas where hunting is prohibited, e.g. in cities and settlements.
