Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Jet skis may only be used in the listed bodies of water and only during certain periods and conditions specified for each body of water (it is also prohibited to drive the watercraft closer than 100 m (except for driving at the minimum speed of a self-propelled watercraft**) from the shores of bodies of water, the shores of islands, bathing areas (except in cases where areas designated for driving watercraft are marked), and diving areas marked with buoys. List of locations where jet skiing is allowed
1. Baltic Sea
It is permitted to drive jet skis in the coastal waters of the Baltic Sea, in the Baltic Sea State Thalassological Reserve within the boundaries of the Palanga City Municipality at a distance of 1,000 m from the coast (except for the Curonian Spit National Park, the Coastal Regional Park, and the Baltic Sea Biosphere Reserve).
Driving of watercraft is allowed no closer than 200 m from the shore in the northern part of the lake from the eastern edge of Mištautai forest to the village of Padrūkšė, in the western part of the lake – from the outlet channel of the Ignalina nuclear power plant to the village of Mačionys. Entry into and exit from the water area is only possible at the minimum speed of a self-propelled watercraft**.
4. Lake Talkša
When the total engine power does not exceed 150 HP (110 kW), driving of watercraft is permitted during a mass event for which a permit has been obtained from the Director of the Administration of Šiauliai City Municipality. Event organizers must inform the Environmental Protection Department (by Email at [email protected]) and the Administration of Šiauliai City Municipality in writing about the date, time, location, number of self-propelled watercraft, and their engine power.
Driving of watercraft is permitted only with a decision of the Council of Alytus District Municipality permitting driving such a watercraft.
This lake is open for driving of watercraft, except for the bay of Galuonai Lake (near the village of Maciūniškės (geographic coordinates 55.1535032, 25.5229649) to the bridge on the road Inturkė–Joniškis).
7. Kaunas Lagoon (Pond of Kaunas Hydroelectric Power Plant)
Driving of watercraft is allowed from the Kaunas Lagoon inland water pier to the line connecting the Grabučiškės boat launch (slip) on the right bank of the lagoon (coordinates 54.8930674, 24.1460141) and the land cape located perpendicular to the shore in front of this slip on the left bank of the lagoon (coordinates 54.8847311, 24.1286535).
Watercraft driving on inland waterways is permitted in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Inland Waterway Transport of the Republic of Lithuania (in Lithuanian). Inland waterways are located in the sections of the Nemunas, Neris, Nevėžis, Skirvytė, Šyša, Mituva, Minija, Pakalnė, Rusnaitė rivers, the King Wilhelm Canal, Kaunas Lagoon, and Curonian Lagoon.
